23 Things To Do Alone... And Be Happy :)

Personally I am a human being that can spend their days in bed without getting bored. I don't get bored that easily however I have received an alarming amount of messages lately where friends asked me what they should do when they're bored and have no one to entertain them.

Fear not, spending time alone is great for connecting with yourself and finding out what really matters to you, what you feel passionate about. Do not waste that time thinking you could take a nap- unless you had only a total of 3 hours snooze that night ;)
Make the most of your time and you could end up learning something about yourself.

So without further ado, here are my favourite freetime activities.

1) Download Spotify, track your favourite artists and see which other NEW artists they recommend for you based on your preferences.
2) Play the music as loud as you can in your apartment and let it fill your soul, dance like you do not even care.
3) Learn the lyrics of your favourite songs and sing them from the top of your lungs.

4) Reorganize your closet- throw out old clothes that you haven't worn in years or start a DIY project, paint your shirts, cut off your jeans. Be creative :)
5) Go for a walk. Take your camera with you and try to find beauty in the little things with the help of the lens. You'll never now what you end up discovering.
6) Take up a new hobby. That could be writing, painting or even rope skipping. Whatever you feel like.
7) Read a book.
8) Reread your favourite book and write a review.
9) Watch your favourite TV show. Just pick a random episode and you will fall in love with it yet again.

10) Bake a cake or cook a new dish you were always too afraid to try out. It could end up being your new go to dish.
11) Write a lovely letter and put it in someone's mailbox. It could make their day.
12) Go to a playground and sit on the swings. Relive your childhood and let out your inner kid. You're never too old for some fun.
13) Sit on your favourite café, order your preferred drink and people-watch. Imagine what they have seen in their lives, what they have endured.

14) Have a beauty day, take a shower, shave your legs, spray yourself with a stunning perfume, apply make up, style your hair and put on a beautiful outfit. Take in all the emotions and notice how happy you might feel.
15) Focus on the good things in life. Write them down.
16) Make a memory jar and write down all the memories you have from your past holidays or events that left a good souvenir.
17) Learn a sentence in a language you always wanted to speak.
18) Open a bottle of wine and enjoy every sip of it.

19) Go to the movies in the afternoon. It can be a romantic comedy or a sad movie, cry your eyes out.
20) Make a to-do list of things you still want to do and places you want to visit.
21) Visit a museum ad create the craziest assumptions about the displayed art.
22) Take a subject you massively enjoy, do research on it and become an expert on certain topic/subject.
23) Appreciate being by yourself for a while. Listen to all the sounds that surround you and take it all in with your senses.

See, the possibitlies are actually endless. You don't have to be dependent on other people. Enjoy to be by yourself for a little while, it is a nice change from time to time, you can do whatever pleases you. And don't even worry if it is frowned upon by others, they simply haven't found their happy place yet ;)

23 Trends Guys Hate- Say WHAT?!

I am a big lover of fashion. Fashion is what you make of it, trends are guidelines that designers have given you but you never have to follow them.
Your choices are up to you and what you wear represents your inner state. It is how you choose to reveal yourself to the world.
I myself would consider me an introvert so fashion is a huge deal for me. It enables me to show a certain aspect of myself without neccessarily having to talk. Which sometimes is really nice. And I feel like many people can relate to that.
If however you come across an article that tells you to stop doing what you believe in because guys don‘t like the trends many women are actually loving- how do you respond to that?

Women shouldn‘t rely on men. Women are indepent, they are an amazing species of mankind and shouldn‘t ever be told what to do and what not to do. We are living OUR lives. We are not living a life of some 30 year old guy. No, it is up to us to make something of it. We can wear what we want. If we feel like pairing a cute high waisted skater skirt with cut out shirts, maybe even some high heels that make you feel like you can touch the sky, we should wear that outfit. Because we feel cute wearing it and it boosts our confidence. Yeah, men might not like it, but who are you to tell us we shouldn‘t wear that? We are not telling men to stop wearing beanies because we might think it looks stupid. No, we find it endearing.
Style is personal but if you dictate what a person has to wear, you are minimizing their own individual value. They are losing a piece of their self, their voice. And that is a damn shame! Be proud to show of your clothes. Work it and never shy away because some dude might not like the way you are sporting oversized sweaters or high waisted jeans.
And if I may add something- women don't dress to impress men most of the times anyways. It is something for a woman herself to enjoy.

Maintaining (aka daydreaming about) Summer in Winter

"Summer's filled with breaking the rules, standing apart, ignoring your head, and following your heart."

Personally I consider transition from spring to summer my favourite season.
There is nothing more fulfilling than witnessing the beauty that is nature itself and that is a pretty damn beautiful thing if you ask me.
With winter still being relevant at the moment, I find myself craving cutesy dresses and sandals more than ever. Due to my described yearning for spring/summer fashion, I found myself at my laptop looking for the perfect outfit once the hotter months roll around.

Another inspiration for the following outfit may or may not be the fact that someone purchased four different statement necklaces these past few days. Woops... ;)
So as you can guess, I'm a little bit obsessed. When I then found this absolute beauty of a necklace, I just had to create the outfit around it.

Without further ado- my ideal summer outfit!

Now it's up to you to tell us what your ideal summer outfit looks like: what are your summer staples that you absolutely cannot live without?

Zero Is Not A Size

Today on "ATM" we are covering a controversial topic but it is a topic we both feel deeply about...

Society expects that a certain size has to be upheld by people of the public. Size Zero was never a thing until the industry- whether that being the fashion industry or media in general- made it one.
Many celebrities like Sophia Bush, who wrote a heartfelt letter to Urban Outfitters after they released a shirt with the slogan "Eat Less", however protest against that image. They say that "Zero Is Not A Size".

Yes, I am aware that Zero actually is a size now. And to be quite frank: that scares me. That society felt the need to create a new size, a new body image. That they needed to project a new body image on younger girls who struggle to keep up with it every day because they think they have to wear a certain size.
Of course it is nice to have a great body but to aspire being skinny? To advertise that? That in my opinion is taking things too far. I personally would be the last person to say no to a piece of- what the hell, an entire pizza! So saying „Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels“ or putting something as outrageous as „Eat Less“ on a shirt is advertisement gone wrong. Like I said, in my opinion.
If you want to be slim, great. If you want to eat chocolate from time to time, great too. Don‘t let society tell you what you should and shouldn‘t be. People have different metabolisms and genes. Some can eat three burgers without even gaining a pound whereas others count calories but still they do not lose any weight. This however doesn‘t mean that you are unhealthy.

There is no ideal body type that people should strive for. Enjoy your own body, be thankful for what you were given and embrace it. Speaking from own experiences, it is important that you feel comfortable in your own skin. If you want to lose a few pounds- or even gain some- do it because you want to not because someone is telling you to do so. There is no pressure to fit into a certain dress, a certain category as long as you love yourself.
Accept your body for what it is.
There is no definition of "beautiful" that you have to meet. Every single person is unique in their own way and this uniqueness is what causes them to be beautiful. As repetitive as it may sound, but beauty really comes in all shapes and sizes. What matters is what's in your heart. I truly believe that and hope you do too!
So here is what I hope to take from my entry:
You can be slim, you can be big, in the long run you need to be happy and live a happy life. What you make of it is up to you.

xx Jess

PS: If you actually made it through the entire post, which I really hope you did, I have a video to share with you by two British Youtubers called Zoe and Louise. They focused on the topic as well and I think it might help some people.

Meet the crew of All That Matters!

 Hey y'all!!!!

What we love most about the blog, our baby, is that the abbreviation „ATM“ stands both for at the moment and all that matters. And that is what we hope to achieve- provide you with all that matters to us, to you atm.
We hope you stick with us, learn to love us and all the topics we feel passionate about and we feel that need coverage: these may include charities, music, current affairs, fashion,... There is seriously no end and we cannot wait to share everything - okay maybe not everything, we will reserve some parts for ourselves - with you!
Follow us on our exciting journey and we really look forward to what comes next!

Hello world, my name is Jess(@jrose9) and I am one half of „ATM“.
Writing has always been one of the things I was most passionate about. Because of that, I was actually quite certain that once I departed my high school, I would pursue a major in English literature and that I would have the chance to use my voice every day, write as much as I possibly could, spend the days curled up in bed reading the most exquisite English literature the world has to offer.
Well, as you might‘ve guessed- that hasn‘t quite come true. Whereas I left high school last March and am indeed pursuing a university degree, so far it hasn‘t involved a single literary book or me writing something I felt passionate about.
Instead of studying the mesmerizing world of Jay Gatsby, I chose to study Cultural science. Which is mesmerizing in its own way, but doesn‘t feel right for me. At least not for now. I feel like I have in some way to leave my mark on this world... with my own little place on the internet, something I could navigate and put up whichever content I felt was appropriate.
As it appears, I seem a little lost at the moment but I feel that by taking that chance, grasping it with pure enchantment, I might be able to find myself in the process. And I am actually looking forward to that. I mean, isn‘t that in a way the whole point of going to college and even growing up? Finding out what you are passionate about, what moves you and in the long-run: what makes you you? You unique person, go out, grab every opportunity possible and find your voice. Let‘s do that together on this little blog.

I'm Denise Anna (@DeniseAnnaa), the second half of "ATM".
There are a bizillion things I feel passionate about and after trying to fit them into only 140 characters on twitter I realized.. damn, that's just not enough to cover it all!! But let's be honest, I've never been much of a writer. Fortunetely my friend Jess convinced me to start a blog though and I hopped right on board (in under 5s) to write about everything that matters. Not only to us, but also to you and the world.
Now there's the question.. what am I passionate about? First of all: I am a movie geek. Maybe one of the worst movie geeks you'll meet. Ever. I can be excited for a movie that comes out in 2 years and not shut up about it. Same goes for TV shows. I mean.. did you take a look into the TV guide? Amazing stuff is happening on the screens at the moment!
Amazing stuff is also happening off screen. There are great charities and I'm really into it. Be the change you want to see in the world, right? And I wish to see a kind world where everyone sticks up for each other and everyone is able to accept not only others, but also themselves. Learning (and maybe even teachign) self-acceptance is something very close to my heart and you'll read a lot about that.
And that's what matters. All of you matter. I cannot wait to share adventures with you, explore the world and maybe, even make this world a little bit of a better place.

If you have any questions concering our topics, what matters to us or just want to get to know us better, tweet us or leave a comment. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter to always get the latest news on our blog.
